Dean Black-Branch, Robson Hall host round table on nuclear deterrence in UK

The Faculty of Law at the University of Manitoba, together with the International Law Association’s Committee on Nuclear Weapons, Non-Proliferation and Contemporary International Law and the International Society of Law and Nuclear Disarmament (ISLAND) will host a Round Table on Legal Challenges for Nuclear Deterrence and Nuclear Security, which will take place in London, England, March 25-26, 2019. Results of this Round Table will be published in the peer reviewed book series edited by Dr. Jonathan Black-Branch and Dieter Fleck, Nuclear Non-Proliferation in International Law(Berlin/Heidelberg: Springer/Asser Press).

Among 18 participants, Dr. Black-Branch will present his research in a paper titled, “The Impact of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons on Defence Doctrines and Nuclear Security Regimes: Disruptive Innovation or Unnecessary Annoyance?”

Participants hail from Canada, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, South Africa, the UK, and the United States among other countries.
