The Canadian Civil Liberties Association/Canadian Civil Liberties Education Trust is pleased to present a Winnipeg edition of its annual Alan Borovoy Fundamental Freedoms Conference for high school students on May 9 at Robson Hall.
Working in collaboration with the Manitoba Association for Rights and Liberties, and Robson Hall’s Community Outreach Committee, the conference will enable students to explore civil liberties and rights issues such as Freedom of Expression and Hate Speech, Immigration and Refugees, Criminalization of Indigenous People, Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity, Freedom of Religion, and Privacy and Smart Cities, and to meet with speakers including Sadie-Phoenix Lavoie (Red Rising Magazine); Michael Bryant (Canadian Civil Liberties Association Executive Director and General Counsel); Chantell Barker (Director of Justice and Law Southern Chiefs Organizations Inc); Adikheir Ahmed (Director, Immigration Partnership Winnipeg); Elder Fred Kelly, and Jordyn Sheldon (Education Coordinator, the Manitoba Association for Rights and Liberties).
