The MBA Securities Section is hosting a talk and discussion panel on the topic of ” Securities Regulatory Practice in Manitoba for 2019 and Beyond” on Thursday, March 14, 2019, 12:00 Noon – 2:00pm, Moot Courtroom, Robson Hall, University of Manitoba – Faculty of Law, 224 Dysart Road, Winnipeg.

The event features a presentation by Kevan Cowan, Chief Regulator of the future Capital Markets Regulatory Authority and a Panel Discussion about the Securities Industry in Manitoba.

Kevan Cowan is currently CEO of the Capital Markets Authority Implementation Organization and will be the Chief Regulator of the Capital Markets Regulatory Authority (“CMRA”) when it commences operation.  Although Manitoba is not a member of the CMRA, it will be important for securities lawyers in Manitoba to be knowledgeable about CMRA and to provide input as it adopts rules.  Mr. Cowan will provide current details on CMRA and answer questions.

A panel discussion will also be held on the current state of, and future opportunities, for the Manitoba Securities industry.  Panel member are in process of being confirmed but will represent diverse segments of the industry.

All members of the Robson Hall community and MBA Members are welcome to attend.
