Bursaries are a form of student funding for which repayment is not required.  Bursaries are typically offered to Full-Time students who have demonstrated financial need on the standard University of Manitoba bursary application form, and the Faculty of Law Supplemental.  Bursary criteria typically include a minimum grade point average requirement, although financial need is the first and foremost consideration. The intention of the bursary program is to assist with Winter Term tuition.

In 2017-18, $434,252 was allocated in needs-based funding to Robson Hall students.  Of the total number of students who applied, 73% received assistance, with an average bursary amount of $3,500.00.

With one application Law students are considered for all Law specific bursaries. A complete listing of bursaries can be found by searching the Financial Aid & Award Database.

Emergency Bursaries

The purpose of the Faculty of Law emergency bursary program is to provide short-term assistance to students who experience unexpected and immediate financial expenses or constraints. This includes, but is not limited to, unanticipated personal living costs, and unexpected delays in government loans and other award funding.

At any point during the academic year, Emergency Bursaries are available to Robson Hall students.  Students are asked to submit a written application including an explanation of their circumstances and a budget outlining expenses and resources; and identifies a dollar amount. Further questions/inquiries should be directed to Marie Jivan.
