The Faculty of Law is hosting a virtual EDI training workshop for Faculty & Staff on Wednesday, March 22, 12 – 1:30 p.m.. The Zoom link to join the meeting will be sent to all registrants prior to the workshop date.

Robin Attas from the UM Centre for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning will give a workshop called “Understanding Identity, Power, Privilege and Bias to develop equitable teaching and learning – Learning tools to have difficult conversations”.

Description:

Identity, power, privilege, and bias are foundational concepts for developing equitable and inclusive teaching and learning. In this workshop, you’ll develop your own knowledge, gain confidence with having conversations on these topics with colleagues, consider applications to teaching and learning, and practice the habits of critical self-reflection that underly inclusive pedagogies in all settings.

Learning outcomes:

By the end of this workshop, you should be able to:

  • share your understanding of identity, power, privilege, and bias using common definitions and your own lived experiences
  • apply these concepts to teaching and learning generally and your own teaching contexts specifically
  • identify personal next steps in terms of education and critical reflection on these topics

Registration for Faculty & Staff will be shared via email only. Please watch your inboxes!
