Juris Doctor – J.D.

UM Faculty of Law, offers a three year J.D. program that starts with the fundamental doctrinal courses that allow students to acquire a solid foundation in law. From the foundational courses, students can choose from a variety of courses to move into the area they may wish to one day focus their practice.

Master of Laws – LL.M.

Our  Master of Laws (LL.M.) program is an advanced, thesis-based, research-intensive program which attracts students from across Canada and around the world.  The degree is designed for completion within one year, during which time students work closely with excellent, dedicated professors with a diverse range of research interests. A dynamic intellectual environment is fostered by workshops, seminars, and roundtables that graduate students are encouraged to attend.

Master of Human Rights – M.H.R.

The University of Manitoba’s Master of Human Rights (M.H.R.) graduate program is the first of its kind to be offered in Canada. This interdisciplinary professional program will train students both practically and academically for careers in human rights work, in collaboration with the faculties of Arts, Education, and Social Work and the Centre for Human Rights Research, the Arthur V. Mauro Centre for Peace and Justice in St. Paul’s College, and the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation. Students will be required to complete, over 16 to 24 months, 18 course credits and either a thesis or a practicum and major research project.
